Snowshoeing season is here and if you don’t already owns a pair of snowshoes or want to upgrade to an MSR snowshoe with a televator bar, this is your chance. This weekend, I am raffling off a pair of 22″ MSR Lightning Axis Snowshoes, including a pair of extension tails (rated for 250 lbs).
Featuring the Speedlock Binding, the MSR Lightning Axis snowshoes are easy to put on and can be adjusted to accommodate toe-in or toe-out gaits, improving the efficiency of your stride (Watch the video above for details). In addition, the Lightning Axis Snowshoes come with wrap-around crampons built into the frame that provide excellent traction on snow, and televator bars which are a must-have if your want to climb snow covered hills and mountains. Televators flip up off the surface of the snowshoe and lock under your heel, relieving the muscle tension that burns out calves on steep ascents. I couldn’t climb half the mountains I hike in winter without them.

I want to snowshoe the North shore of lake superior an the BWCA in Minnesota. There’s usually too much snow to get here hiking in the winter, and the trails aren’t CC ski friendly so I’d like to get snowshoes to get out and winter camp with friends.
after the 18 inches of snow we got here in salt lake city. snowshoeing sounds like a blast to do on some trails.
The MSR Lightning Axis Snowshoes would be an welcome addition for hiking the Whites!

Why do I want to win these? Because I can’t fathom how 22″ is going to keep me and my ivernight gear afloat (and I’m only 165 lbs) so I am fascinated to see how the technology is so advanced with these.
I’d like to go snowshoeing somewhere there’s snow.
I love to be outside in the winter! I always end up having to borrow a friend’s pair when we go out. This would sure help! Thanks!
I want to snowshoe around Orr, MN. There is usually a ton of snow and a lot of terrain to cover that would be immensely more difficult without snowshoes.
Oh, and as far as where? Dolly Sods wilderness in 3 weeks, or adirondacks later in Feb. and they would definitely go with me to Utah, the next time I venture out. Best powder I’ve ever seen.

Why do you like snowshoeing?
The quiet winter serenity, sounds deadened by falling snow. At least when Scouts aren’t being Scouts. ;)
I’ve had my current snowshoes for almost ten years, they’re nearly worn out. I don’t dare take them on a serious trek this winter for fear they’ll blow out!
I love going out cross country skiing, and have always wanted to get out on some snowshoes. I would love to do some winter backpacking in the BWCA and these would be a great way to get out and enjoy with friends.
I want to win these snowshoes because I have a dream of trekking through a snow-blanketed forest on a multi-day journey for QUIET!

I’ve just started hiking the NH 4K’s in Winter. These snowshoes would be a great upgrade. My feet toe out some so it would be nice to have snowhoes that can adjust for that rather than guessing each time I put them on (or trip over myself if I forget). And the easy to deploy climbing bars would make long steep ascents much easier.
I have never owned a pair of snow shoes and only done a trek once at The Balsams when I stayed there a couple years back and tried it out. Loved it but never have the money to spend on snow shoes. I have 3 peaks left of the 48 4,000 footers but only hike Spring to Fall. I think these snow shoes could be the thing that finally gets me started into winter hiking! Thanks!
I want to start snowshoeing with the wife and kids on some easy trails. Buying snowshoes for 6 people can take a dent out of the income.
