Munroe’s Family Restaurant in Twin Mountain, New Hampshire is a mandatory stop if you want to fuel up before or after winter recreational activities. A family style restaurant, it’s a great place to get strong coffee, huge omelets, pancakes, or waffles before you venture into the cold for winter hiking, snowmobiling or skiing in the White Mountains.

I first discovered Munroe’s during a vacation with my wife when we were staying at the big fancy white hotel at the foot of Mt Washington and we wanted some less expensive fare to save money. Though basic, breakfast and lunch were so much better and such a good value that we returned several times during our stay. Since then I’ve returned many times, especially for breakfast after nearby hikes, to savor their magnificent French toast, pancackes, waffles, soups, salads and grilled sandwiches. The price is right too, with full meals ranging from $5-$10 in price (and they have a liquor license too).

Munroes can get crowded, but the service is so fast and friendly that patrons cycle through pretty quickly. Takeout is also available if you are in a hurry.

The restaurant is located in the heart of Twin Mountain, NH in a small wooden building across from the Profile Deluxe Motel, at mile marker 147.4 on route 3. Just look for a bunch of cars or snowmobiles parked out front.

Great food and hot coffee at a price that can’t be beat.

Ask the locals, and they’ll tell you!

  3. Got them to make me a tuna salad sandwich yesterday morning for my lunch during my hike. It was only 9am and not lunch but they were nice enough to make it for me. And it was a great sandwich. : )

  4. You’re a good man, Philip! It’s terrific that you used your blog to promote a local business, especially one as deserving as Munroe’s!
