Hyperion 32 Degree Down Sleeping Bag

New for 2019, the Hyperion 32 Degree Down Sleeping Bag is an ultralight backpacking option for those headed out into late spring or early fall conditions in uncertain weather. It features powerful 900-fill down insulation to keep you warm when the nights dip towards freezing, treated with Nikwax in order to retain heat-trapping loft if you encounter moisture on your trip. Cinch the draft collar down on colder nights for snuggle-worthy comfort, and rest easy knowing that a draft tube keeps cold air from sneaking through the zipper. The ergonomic mummy shape is built with mesh walls to maximize loft, and zoned insulation for maximum warmth with minimum weight. In addition to weighing in at merely a pound, the Hyperion packs down to little more than the size of your favorite 1 liter water bottle.

Really capable

I have only tried a handful of sleeping bags as i'm pretty much a rookie hiker. However i am absolutely amazed by how this bag performs. I can compress it to the size of a football! thisi is reallt usefull to me when i go bike packing, when pack size is important. I always use a small liner, but i have never had any chills in this bag. even at around 0 degrees celcius. some people mention it is is chilly, but it seems most of those people are using the uber lite, or some similar sleeping mat. end of the day im super impressed with its weight to warmth ratio and it has yet to let me down!

Extremely light

Used this and their neoair uberlite on a recent camping trip north of Milwaukee WI along Lake Michigan; these did not provide the advertised comfort. All their gear packs down extremely light and was comfortable but did not provide warmth or comfort on a 35 degree night. Packed up and drove home at 3am. If this was labeled as 45 degree bag I'd agree with it more but given it's cost I wouldn't recommend it.

Great lightweight bag

This bag is super lightweight, very cozy, and has an attractive color. I'm glad I chose this bag for my 3 season, lightweight backpacking adventures.

Great weight saving bag

I go to the Golden Trout Wilderness about 4 trips per year. This bag is perfect for summer trips, but I need to use a liner for early spring and fall.

Not a 42° Comfort Rating bag

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Height:
6' 1"
Weight:
230

This is the second time. The Hyperion 32 is an excellent bag. It?s weight can?t be beat. The construction is superior but there is a design flaw. I gave the bag two stars because of the zipper and draft tube placement. I?m guessing the zipper is short because of this. I?m also upset that it costs what it does and doesn?t deliver. It is clear that the bag is made for those who sleep on their backs. As for reality that doesn?t happen. I tend to move and the only way I could be fully comfortable, and not get a cold spot along the zipper, was to stuff my down jacket along the zipper. I didn?t have any issues with the right side of the bag so it wasn?t the strategically placed down. The draft tube is on the top. Cold goes down. So it?s placement, on the top of the zipper, I feel, is a design flaw. But I?m still thinking that wouldn?t make a difference and a different zipper would. I know for sure it was the zipper because it felt cold and the bag did not. The coldest it got was 35° and that was only one night as the other nights, 5, were 40-45° I do not consider this a 32° bag when I get a draft at 42°, 42° Comfort, and I run hot so I love cold weather. I would rather use my Cat?s Meow from 1996. That is a 30° bag with primaloft and is good at 30°. It?s the only bag I?ve had that?s rated for 30° that isn?t freezing at it?s temp rating. Yes, I know bags are rated differently now. Shouldn?t have to wear fleece or use an insert at this temp rating. The only reason I wanted this bag is because I can drop a pound.

COLD at 45F

I love the size and weight of this sleeping bag. However, it fails at its primary job, keeping me warm at night. Even a 45F night in August and my shoulder gets cold if I sleep on my side. The bag simply does not have enough insulation. As small, lean person I do tend to sleep cold, but my 20F bag from another company easily keeps me toasty down to 20F. The Hyperion 32F isn't even warm to its stated comfort range of 41F. Minor drawbacks that I would put up with for the weight and size are the 2/3rds length zipper and the face cinch system.

Best Packable Sleeping Bags!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
Small
Height:
5' 6"
Weight:
150

I purchased this as my 3-season sleeping bag and have no regrets! It packs down to about the size of a Nalgene and is perfect for backpacking, or just minimizing your load size. I'm 5' 5 3/4" and the small fits me just perfectly. The water resistance is great for keeping you warm despite frost and even withstood a brief and light rain (but I do recommend a bivy for rain).

Great bag, bad straps

Love this sleeping bag. It packs very small, is very light, very comfy, and just roomy enough. The shape is very good. I have fairly wide shoulders and was afraid I would feel cramped, but there is just enough room for me to switch sides in the night and not get all bound up. On a cold, sub 40° night at high altitude, I did get pretty cold. I typically sleep pretty warm, but I've also gotten used to my x-therm mattress. The Hyperion paired with the UberLite mattress is a small, lightweight sleeping system that shouldn't be used at temps below 40°. But anything above that is spectacular. My only complaint about this bag is the SynergyLink Connectors. They are a joke. The little connector system needs to be actual clips, not a T into loop style. My first trip, I lost one of the straps high in the mountains. I am very good at keeping track of all the bits and pieces of my gear, yet somehow a strap went missing. So much for Leave No Trace. When I get another strap to replace the missing one, I will be modifying them both to have small clips instead of the slip through design.

Amazing for fast and light

My new favorite bag for ultralight alpine missions. Can't believe how small and light this thing is. Add a puffy jacket and long underwear, and the Hyperion is perfect for summer alpine climbs.
