With more options than a Swiss Army knife, this is the go-to tarp for the thru-hiker, minimalist, or ultralight connoisseur. The Big Agnes Onyx UL Tarp, barely weighing more than your key chain, is easy to use and can be set up in multiple configurations. The Onyx can be tied over a hammock, pitched over a sleeping bag, erected high over a kitchen snow pit, or used as an emergency rain shelter over your raft and can be stowed away in the smallest of spaces.image

Features of Big Agnes Onyx UL Tarp:

  • The ultimate in lightweight, minimalist versatility
  • Designed using the lightest high tenacity fabric on the market
  • Plethora of guy-out points create multiple configuration options allowing for optimal coverage in any location
  • Included strut pole can be inserted into laser-cut Hypalon tabs in center of tarp for increased head room
  • Strut pole can also be used in place of a trekking pole along edge of tarp
  • 72 sq ft is the approximate floor area based on the dimensions of the tarp when flat
  • 8 superlight aluminum J stakes
  • 4 additional guylines included
  • Stuff sack with a pole sleeve pocket for easy storage

Very nice shelter!

It's a nice shelter even in heavy rainy days. It has plenty room for 2 persons, but pretty tight for 3 persons. The color of the tarp is a little bit transparent. It is very light-weight and easy to set up. To sum up, I like it a lot. I will recommend it to my friends.

Too light and easy not to bring.

I carry this on every Backpack trip I take. So light you can afford to have it in your pack. Its sturdy with multiple different guy lines to secure it down. Comes in real handy when the weather or the Sun is getting you down. Works best with trekking poles.
