Long Haul 50 EPLX - Internal Frame

Torso Sizing:

We have three different torso sizes, Sm 16-18", Med 18-20", and Lg 20-22". 

If you are on the upper end of a torso size we recommend sizing up.

To measure your torso size you will need to measure from your C7 Vertebrae down to your iliac crest/hip shelf. To get the most accurate measurement, it is best to have someone else measure your back with a flexible measuring tape. The measurement will most likely fall somewhere within our sizing chart. If you do not fall somewhere in our sizing chart shoot us an email and we can discuss custom torso sizing.

​The goal for packs with a padded hip belt is to get the belt to ride so that the center line is close to riding on your hip bones. That way you will get the best load transfer to your hips, removing a bulk of the load from your shoulders.

 

Hip Belt Sizing:

26" belt for waist sizes 26-30"

30" belt for waist sizes 30-34"

34" belt for waist sizes 34" and up

We currently offer three hip belt sizes which are 26",  30" and 34". Each measurement is referring to the amount of padding that the belt will have. Each hip belt will come with enough adjustable webbing to fit up to about a 50" waist or so.  

​To find your correct hip belt size you will need to measure the circumference around your hips rather than your waist size. This measurement should be at least 4" larger than the padded portion of the hip belt. 

​When in doubt size down, as you do not want the belt to be too large. If the hip belt is too big, you will not be able to tighten the belt down all the way making for poor load transfer to your hips.

If you want a lighter pack/hip belt you can always size down on the belt. This will however make hip belt pockets less accessible while wearing the pack. 

Both of our hip belt styles, the sewn-in and the full wrap belt, provide excellent load transfer and are both very comfortable. The sewn-in belt is about 1.5oz lighter, but the full wrap belt allows for for greater flexibility in sizing by providing interchangeable torso and hip belt sizes. 

Frame Size:

The Long Haul comes with our standard frame which is made out of 7075 aluminum and can handle loads of up to 40lbs very comfortably. 

Frame heights:

• Sm 20"
• Med 22"
• Lg 24"

While the comfort rating on packs is a bit subjective, here is what we have found in our testing of our packs.

The Long Haul can comfortably carry up to about 40-45lbs provided you have the correct torso and hip belt size. 

• 50lbs is about the max recommend carrying capacity. If you will regularly be carrying above 40lbs we recommend going for the Wendigo or Big Wild Packs. 
• 35-40lbs will be comfortable for long days on the trail. 
• 30lbs and under will feel like there is almost nothing in the pack at all. 

Our packs are hand-made by us right here in Michigan and are constructed using the finest materials and the best construction methods. These packs are ready to handle anything you can throw at them, and will give you thousands of miles of use.

All of the main body seams on our packs are quadruple stitched and flat felled. All stress points are reinforced and bar tacked. The flat felled seams make for easy seam sealing on the inside of the pack. 

Our packs are very water resistant and are made out of completely waterproof fabric. The inner seams however are not seam sealed, and can leak a bit in prolonged rain. We recommend seam sealing if you want a completely waterproof pack. 

Our new packs are using a more environmentally friendly line of laminated fabrics. 

The woven fabric is 100% Repreve recycled polyester. The proprietary Challenge RUV recycled film backing is 100% recycled and 97% UV Resistant. Every yard of ECOPAK™ saves over one pound of CO2, compared to Nylon pack fabric. ECOPAK™ contains no harmful TPU, PVC, DWR or other coatings. CO2 emissions from manufacturing our recycled polyester are: 50% lower than Nylon 38% lower than virgin filmcomparable to organic cotton

The main body of these packs is made out of EPLX200. A 3ply laminated fabric consisting of a 200D polyester face fabric, a 45* X ply, and a waterproof film on the interior. 

Our shoulder straps and hip belt wings are made out of Evazote foams. These are the most resilient and longest lasting foams that we can find. They will give you many years of use without flattening out. 

Pad sleeve is made out of very durable and stretchy Venom Mesh. 

Included Features:

*The removable belt option has excellent load transfer and is great if you want to have the capability to swap out belt sizes on your pack. The removable belt makes the torso height adjustable by 3".

• Contoured pack body makes for a glove-like fit. This also makes the pack easier to pack and prevents barreling. 
• -Large front pocket made out of very durable Venom Mesh.
• -Side pockets. Big enough for a full day of food, water and extra gear, or two 1L smartwater bottles in each pocket. The 35 and 40L packs come with our small side pockets as seen on the Superior Packs. The 50L pack comes with the bigger side pockets as seen on the Long Haul 50.
• -Very supportive hip belt made using lomg lasting Evazote foam.
• -V style hip belt tensioner.
• -Ultra comfy S shaped shoulder straps made using  Evazote foam.
• -Load lifters.
• -Internal frame featuring two removable aluminum stays made out of 7075 aluminum, which won't deform under heavy loads.
• -Removable foam back pad/sit pad.

• -Two side compression straps - Fully removable
• -4 attachment points on each side panel for adding additional compression straps. Cord can additionally be run through these attachment points if desired.
