Why We Like The Abisko Lite Trekking Trouser

When our route consists of long bushwhacks and high trails that criss-cross through boulder fields, we count on the Fjallraven Abisko Lite Trekking Trousers to take care of our legs every step of the way. Made from Fjallraven's G-1000 Lite fabric, these pants are light and stretchy to provide exceptional breathability, making them ideal for summer backpacking trips.

In order to increase their overall durability, Fjallraven added reinforcements along the lower legs and inseam to protect those prone-to-wear areas. The cuffs are equipped with adjustable tabs and boot hooks, which function similarly to gaiters, and the regular fit with mid-rise waist is specifically designed to promote mobility and provide additional coverage to the lower back for when you're hiking with a heavy pack.

If the size was consistent...

I got these for summer weight overlanding and backpacking pants. This is my 5th pair of Fjallraven pants in different versions. 2 KEB, ABISKO, VIDDA Pro, and now these Abisko Lite. All 44. All very different sizes in the waste. My vidda pro are a bit snug, 1 Keb is perfect and the other is snug, and these are massive. Be prepared to have to find one that fits in adjacent sizes. For a European based size, it's disappointing since all my other european clothes are also 44 and arent as variable across several brands.

Good, though a little large.

I wear a EU 44 on these (as well as the Keb and Vidda Pro). I find that these are the least true to size. There's no way I can wear these without a belt, and it was like that when I bought them brand new (meaning they did not stretch). I think these are probably the more discreet in styling between the three models I've owned. They're nice trousers, though I'm not sure they're actually more breathable than the Keb. That said, they've held up to abuse, and perhaps are more rugged than the Keb given the Abisko Lite is comprised of more G-1000 material. Also, as stated in my Keb trouser review, the G-1000 colour fades with wear and washing - but that could be a combination of colour loss and wax loss (under the assumption the wax darkens the shade). Go to a store and try them on first.

Love these pants

I own two pairs of these pants. One pair I have had for almost 4 years now, and have worn them on lots of hikes and just day to day work. The only thing that I've had repaired, was a small hole I got in the butt about 2.5 years after using them (which was my doing on a camping trip). The crotch area has started to wear out from chafing but again, lots of hikes and daily wear. I have size 32 reg and I am 5' 8" 185 right now (i have larger quads and these fit fine). These also fit me at 194, due to the stretch material. These pants were a bit longer for me so I had them hemmed, as I also was not a fan of the buckle/strap system at the ankle. These and the kebs I find fit true to size due to the stretchy material being more forgiving. I own vidda pro ventilated and those fit tighter due to more g-1000 , I have sized up to 34's. Only fixes/updates I would like to see are; Either 2 way zip on legs and mosquito mesh in the leg vents. Ankle synch strap and buckles. Get rid of them entirely or switch to keb/vidda style or if looking for light option, go with shock cord drawstring. Nice to have; shorter lengths for us long torso, short leg types.

Simply the best

I have a pair in every color of these trousers, they are that good. Hey, Fjallraven, how about a few more solid colors in these? Like Mountain Blue? These trousers are the best pants I’ve ever owned, and I have the Keb, Keb Agile and Vidda Pros (some I got in Sweden almost 20 years ago) and these pants are next-level entirely. Light as a feather and flexible exactly where they should be. I wear them practically every day as I’ve never been as comfortable in any other trousers - the Keb Agile come close but they are a little more rugged and stiffer - these just feel and move in such a perfect way for me - they are so light. And since I run hot I can even use them in Oregon’s winters with a layer on underneath... I give these my highest recommendation!

So comfortable

These trousers are really comfy, I bought them to replace worn out Kebs because I wanted the stretch fabric panels. I bought light olive all over because I find many of the colour combos too contrasting and they look great (hint hint Fjallraven). The thing I do wish however is that Fjallraven would cut more varied leg lengths, I’m not particularly short but bought 36” waist for room and these came so long! I have 3 turn ups despite the ankle cinches. Please make shorter versions like the Vidda pro!!!

A bit of a disappointment after a few months of occasional use -a hole in the crotch ... :( But else, like the trousers..

Great but not perfect

I love the design of these pants. The stretchy material at the right places gives you free motion. However, the g-1000 lite material is really not that durable. After less than two years the material at the butt area is worn out. It was also ripped while I was bushwhacking. Another downside is that the material keeps the body odour. If you sweat a lot or use a knee brace, this is not for you.

New favourite summer pant

I bought these and was about to return them a week later thinking they were a lot like my Keb pants. I am super happy I didn’t. They are just as awesome as the Keb but I like these better for the summer. I am 5’11, 215lbs and bough size 54(37”) reg in dark olive (my favourite colour in the Fjallraven line). Cons; only 2. 1.) the draw strap on the leg cuff isn’t as easy to use as the Keb pants but this is minor flaw. 2.) there is no screen mesh in the ventilation openings. Residing in Canada, mosquitoes, deer flies and black flies love to help themselves in to every opening. This con is also on the Keb and Vidda pants as well. Even with these two cons, I still give them 5 stars. Pros: They are light weight, packable and even for G1000 lite, they are extremely durable. Super comfortable with a lot of stretch. Pockets are well designed. They look great too! I think these pants are great for hiking, exploring, travel, canoeist, camping especially in warmer temperatures. I wore mine for camping, canoeing last summer and in to the fall. No regrets. I’d definitely buy these again. I am happy with my purchase. Disclosure, I wrote a review and I think I posted under the Abisko pant not the Abisko lite and said Fjallraven stopped making the dark green. My bad, as I realized my mistake after. The dark green or dark olive green as they call is still available for these pants. Other than that the review is the same.

The absolute best pants

These are my everyday and favorite pants. The fit, style and function are outstanding. They've spoiled me on pants as nothing else is really comparable now. I especially love the solid green color, as opposed to the mixed colors. Some of their combos are a bit bold, so the light green is great, and goes with most clothes. Wish they had the Vidda pros in the same solid color, which are also great pants.

Great trousers, but perhaps used?

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
US 36 / EU 52
Height:
5' 10"
Weight:
190

These trousers are great, they repel water easily. Would recommend these trousers themselves. It's just that around the bottom of trousers there seem to be some pretty severe wear marks, not exactly sure about that.
